DOC Wine Bar, located on the Avenida Cabo San Lucas next to the well-known, traditional, Mexican cuisine hot spot, Mi Casa, is an small, unique Italian place with food and wine to die for. There is one chef, one helper, and a couple waiters. The owner, Pietro Gioco, is a restaurant entrepreneur who ventured from Restaurant Amarone, located in the heart of the marina. He started Amarone with a couple of his business partners from Verona, Italy. After a few years developing the high-end Italian Restaurant in the Marina, he decided to start a restaurant catering to a more budget conscious demographic and started DOC Wine Bar. The menu is small and simple, but has extraordinary taste. I ordered a caprese salad, in which the Chef had made the mozzarella fresh himself three hours prior to us arriving! It was the best mozzarella I have ever tasted! A few others in our group ordered a meat dish appetizer that included Raw Beef Carpaccio, Prosciutto, Salami, and other meats that were raved about. For the entree, a couple of us ordered a spicy pasta dish while others opted for the mushroom, tomato sauce penne. Lastly, the wine we drank was "Gavi Di Gavi" Italian Chardonnay from 2007. Everything from the wine to the food to the quaint wooden interior furniture made Pietro's new restaurant a perfect dinner to finish our trip.<br/>Pietro also does sea ventures out on his 1950's Vintage Italian Sailboat with 2 other men. A perfect activity to do with friends, as he provides food, beer, and a beautiful scenic view of all of cabo.
