Finally . The time has come for this little Travel Geek to spread her wings and fly. Come May, I am embarking on my first solo international trip to Spain – a dream vacation I have been talking non-stop about for more than a year. Having recently realized it has been two solid years since I left this country (see my Italy Trip ), my anticipation to be bitten by the travel bug again has grown into giddy excitement. I am eager to taste the breeze of another great city, along with its gorgeous architecture, handsome people, and engaging language; Spain can not come soon enough. Though I am traveling by myself as a young twenty-something gal, I have minimal fears. In fact, I did not give it much thought to go solo once I kept getting rejected invites by friends and family. If there is anything that I have learned while being an avid travel community member, it’s that “now or never” is entirely too true. If I don’t go out and live out my dreams now while I’m young, then more excuses, job situations, money problems – essentially LIFE – will get in the way. And I am determined to not let that happen! Luckily, being a part of the Travel Geeks I had some really great people and blogs to help me steer this trip into action. Here are a list of some resources I used in preparation of my 10-day trip to Spain: No Debt World Travel Kayak.com Hostels.com No Reservations’ Travel Guides EuroCheapo Spain Guides Off Track Planet’s list I will be traveling through Barcelona, San Sebastian, and Madrid enjoying much-needed alone time and international spirit lifting. Here's where you Sosaucers come into play: I am rejecting my natural-born OCDness of over-planning and taking a much more relaxed, spontaneous approach to this trip. So far I've got my plane tickets, a list of hostels to book, and pinned points of interests to map my trip. But, I'm still looking for suggestions, tips, advice, and recommendations on the following: hostel booking (San Sebastian & Madrid) concise, easy to follow guidebook phone card & portable electronics lighter packing tips international banking backpacker's backpack comfy clothing & how to keep 'em clean making travel friends in Spain So please share with me your Travel Geek expertise! Drop me a line in the comments with your words of wisdom and help make my dream trip to Spain come true!
