& anyone who disagrees is a filthy pirate hooker. prepare to listen to probably an incoherent rant about why i love nyc... as my dad drove into the city this morning on our way to work yet again i came up with the realization of how much i love this place. there's something about nyc that just brings me alive. as soon as i arrive i feel happy, i'm energetic, i'm ready to rule the world. the smallest things about this city amaze me and make me smile like a little girl. for example, as we drove in via GWB i saw the multiple joggers and cyclists going across the bridge and then again on the west side hwy. i just thought to myself "good for them, enjoying the early morning weather, getting a head start on their day." i would probably never be THAT person who gets up early to jog, or walk, or... do anything remotely related to exercise so props to them. i love that nyc can be that place for people where there's so many set morning routines. that brings me to another point i thought of this morning - there's always SOMETHING to do here. need a cup of coffee before work? awesome, go find the best local place that makes a special cup just for you. want to get an early start on your day? read a great niche paper about your neighborhood, or a fave hobby, or just catch up on the news. or what about lunch time in nyc? today i went out with my entire office to grab food. we went to one of my fave pizza places - waldys [28th & 6th]. there were about 12 of us so we couldn't sit. but since this is nyc, we walked to the nearby madison sq. park to sit outside and ejnoy some time together, kick back and enjoy the nice fall weather. if we were anywhere else, we'd be stuck on the sidewalk eating out of our laps. but nope, this is nyc and u can easily walk 5 mins and find a great spot to enjoy your break outside. and i love that! it was a wonderful lunch where i got to bond with new co-workers and eat delishous food, while taking in the sights. so there's 2 reasons why nyc rules: 1. you can make your own morning routine at your pace, your own way and 2. you can eat your lunch outside among beautiful places in beautiful weather and speaking of eating, nyc has the best placs to eat. i can list 15 places off the top of my head where i've had exceptionally tasting grub.... nevermind half are burger places, but STILL. it's funny that one of the main reasons i come to nyc IS for the food. whether it's going out to dinner with friends to catch up or attending an event with free food, or just finding a new great spot to eat, i'm always determined to find the best food possible. you can get any type of food you want here, there's an endless amount of places to choose from and you never have to eat the same thing twice. there's always a new place to check out. [note: reason 3. best food to eat] another thing i love about nyc is the people. just walking down the street, you come across an array of amazing people. i swear i've fallen in love with a new guy every block i cross. there's your business men who are usually biz on their iphones and blackberries, the unfortunate homeless begging for a chance to eat and get any spare change, the fashionistas with their middle eastern scarves and fierce sunglasses, the construction workers on the side of buildings checking out the ladies as they walk by, and impatient young people on a move... just to point out a few. there's no other city in the world where you can find such an expansive variety of cultures and ethnicities all living under one place at the same time. each person has their own hold on this city for their own reasons (side note- if things go as planned i will be joining the "moving to nyc to start my life and find myself" club... wish me luck!).there's an infectious vibe here in nyc and the people certainly add to it. nyc is also full of youth and vibrance. this is great place to boost your career and still raise a family. this is my 2nd time working in nyc and i absolutely love it. i love walking to the office, i love riding the subway, i love being able to work on an odd schedule, and most of all i love making the awesome connections i do. i've been fortunate enough to work with great, talented, fun people who share the same passions as me. this is the land of opportunity, like they say, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere! i plan to make this place my home and my career HQ. you can be and do anyone/anything you want here. ya just gotta take the bull by its horns... speaking of jobs, my day is coming to an end. so i'm gonna wrap up this rant and quit wasting your time. more thoughts on why nyc is the greatest city in the world SOON!
