What a busy but exciting week it’s been for us at Sosauce. With so much going on, there might not be anything better than ending our week with some great travel reads as we push for the weekend. This week we bring you entertaining videos, off the wall adventure seekers, global events, and new travel recommendations. It was actually quite hard picking just five articles, but here’s who made the cut:
Teen Sailor Near Complete in Sailing Around the World – Zac Sunderland aims to be the youngest sailor to circumnavigate the earth. At 17, Zac has trekked 26,000 miles alone in his sailboat encountering real-life pirates, near shark attacks, and not to mention pushing through treacherous seas. He’s been sailing all his life and left his family back in California last June of 2008 to embark on the journey around the world. His next move is sailing up the Mexican Baja Peninsula which he hopes to conquer by July 14th. Can you believe he doesn’t even have his driver’s license yet?!
Alaska Troop Honors the King of Pop Arctic Style – Shortly after the passing of Michael Jackson, a group of scientists recreated the “Thriller” dance at the northernmost tip of the US. It’s no secret how influential Michael Jackson was, especially to to the world. What a great way to honor MJ and his music. I love the King of Pop and I love this video!
Four Cities, One Great Thing – Nomadic Matt has been all over the travelnet these days for his inquisitive writing and experienced globetrotting. In this guest post, he shares four cities he loves (New York, London, Amsterdam, Bangkok) and why you should love them too. Of course, our favorite city is New York.

Nice’s Month-Long Offering of Free Music Fests – We’re all about global festivals this summer. Thankfully, so are our friends at EuroCheapo. For you budget-conscious travelers, you might want to head out to France to experience some of the best world and jazz music at the Nice Jazz Festival, Festival of Military Music, Promenade of Anglais, and more. Nice hosts these FREE music parties (known as “prom” parties and “musicalias”) on Wednesday and Saturday nights in August.

Madrid Celebrates Summer – Keeping in line with summer festivities, Spain knows how to party harder than any other country it seems. Aside from the popular Running With the Bulls event, Madrid rings in every August with their “Summer in the City” series celebrating music, art, dancing, theatre, and flamenco. Veranos de la Villa hosts more than 1,000 events daily including circuses, concerts, film, and countless other performance-driven activities. Plus you’ll get to enjoy the in ancient Spanish venues. Who doesn’t love that?
Those were just a few articles we loved this week. To read what others we enjoyed, follow us on Twitter: @Sosauce – enjoy your weekend!
