Last year I traveled internationally for the first time ever (hence my title, “The Travel Newbie”). A dream come true, my family took me to Italy where I fully part-took in the three Ps: pizza, pasta, and Parmesan. It was an eye-opening trip as I had never experienced such culture shock, beauty, and deliciousness in a 10-day visit.
Almost two years later I am getting that itch to return overseas. I’ve exhausted my local weekend trips here in the states, so it is time for me to embrace that “I don’t know where I’m going, but I don’t care” feeling and travel abroad again. Though I had a wonderful time in the land of gorgeous people and equally gorgeous food, I did not get the full Italian experience during my stay. Due to monetary restrictions and transportation chaos, we spent a short time exploring Rome and Venice only. That is why I plan on returning to Italy next summer, and taking my best friend with me. We will conquer the ruins, we will teach youngsters, we will country hop, and we will find handsome Italian men for dinner dates.
In the mean time, I’ll reminisce my travel bug bites through some of my favorite Italy photos:
Pizza feast at Da Befetto our first night in Rome. This is quite possibly THE best authentic Italian pizza I’ve ever had. Rude wait staff make the ambiance all that much better, too!
Our daily view of the Vatican. Breathtaking in significance and architecture.
My family and I enjoying a meal with Nonna Ada in her restaurant, Alfredo e Ada, in Rome. Nonna Ada’s restaurant is a hole in the wall off the cobbled streets where there are no menus – you simply sit back, chat over wine, and fully welcome a freshly made 7 course meal.
Il Coliseo! I wish I knew it was free to go inside, would have loved to see how the Gladiators battled in ancient Rome!
The Fountain of Trevi made my jaw drop from its pure beauty. A stunning monument I fell in love with immediately upon turning the corner from a street in Rome.
Night-time colors upon arriving in Venice. It’s a city built on water, man! Though the food and people were forgettable, the sights were absolutely beautiful.
I could not agree more with Venicians.
Til I see you again, Italia. . .

Definitely can say that Italy is one of the most interesting destinations to travel. I like Italy, but most of all like Sicily. This island is quite beautiful and I visited it twice. It is amazing.
