Indie rock meets travel.
Introducing a new travel webseries hosted by CNN that follows the adventures of SubPop Records’ singing duo, Handsome Furs, in “Indie Asia.”
Handsome Furs
Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry, self-proclaimed “travel nerds” and the members of SubPop’s indie-rock duo, Handsome Furs. The pair is the subject of CNN.com’s new series, Indie Asia: On Tour with Handsome Furs and features travelogue footage, including sites, sounds, cuisine, lodging, and live shows, captured by the duo on Flip cameras from China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand.
The band has already filmed a few episodes which can be watched at CNN.com/indieasia. Be sure to also watch exclusive deleted scenes, photos, and online journals from the traveling pair. Let us know what you think about the touring couple, and for those of you who are in a traveling couple yourselves, fill us in on your experiences!

We just returned from an 8 month trip together, and we’ve been together for quite a few years before that as well.
I would agree with Jason that making sure you have a solid relationship before traveling would be the best bet. Travel and being together 24/7 can even stress easy going couples to the max sometimes. Being able to talk about difficult issues together honestly helps prevent too much pressure boiling over in each person.
The most important thing is that you both smile and laugh, and enjoy the trip together, that’s why you came! Cheers!
Thanks for your comment, Aly!
Aracely and I have been traveling together in Latin America for 6 months now and had been living together in the US for 2 years prior. We expected it to be a challenge, but understanding each other and practicing open communication gave us confidence that we could survive each other. I wouldn’t suggest testing your relationship on the road. The separation could be more difficult and ugly.
Be sure you are both confident about your relationship and have similar travel styles. Discuss how you would like to travel, what interests you and what you are willing to spend.
It’s much more fun for me to share these incredible experiences with someone I love than to travel alone. That’s just my preference.
Thanks for your input Jason! Been stumbling upon couples traveling together and we’re curious to see the experience through their eyes. Keep us posted on where you’re headed to next!
