This Week in Travel: November 20th

Hi all! I hope everyone is having a great Friday.

This week we chose to share travel photography (our favorite), foodie adventures, travel media events, and some do-gooder links. Enjoy!

Wayward Winos | Maya’s Hope Project

A core part of our mission at Sosauce is to use travel as a window to cultural learning. We believe in traveling with a purpose, leaving behind a positive impact on the world. That’s why we joined in the effort to aid natural disaster victims in the Philippines with our friends the Wayward Winos for Maya’s Hope Project. They take care of orphanages in the Philippines and are in dire need of monetary funds, clothing, and food to pull through the latest typhoon strikes in Manila. We’re glad to see that our donations served well, but there is still more to be done. Chip in and help this holiday season.

Indie Travel Podcast | 7 Reasons Hostels Rock

Geotraveler’s Niche | Texas Dining in Pictures

Maybe it’s because I just finished watching No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, or maybe it’s because I’m really hungry. But to me, food makes traveling awesome. So thanks to Lola from Matador for reinforcing this notion with her yumtacular photos of the Texas dining scene. Here is a teaser photo for you to drool over:

Art of Backpacking | The New World of Travel Media

December is shaping up to be a pretty fun and important season for travelers. We New York Travel Geeks are pretty excited to meet new faces, and reunite with familiar favorites over group lunches, karaoke, happy hours, and now conferences. The 92YTribeca, HotelChatter and Jaunted are teaming up on Thursday December 3rd, 2009 in New York City to present The New World of Travel Media. This is an event to get social and share great resources on making the most out of your travel experiences. We hope to see you there!

Hope you liked our travel picks. What articles did you read this week?
