The past year without a doubt was the year for travel bloggers. With endless sources of information, social networking communications, and the FREE availability of internet, travel writing grew by leaps and bounds into a solid profession for many.
Sosauce was no exception to the community of travel bloggers. With so much travel content to share and stories to be heard, we decided to recruit some of our favorite Sosaucers to become regular contributors here on the Sosauce blog to “celebrate the saucy side of travel” with us. As 2009 comes to an end, we want to reflect on their shared travel experiences and what they had to say about being a Sosaucer:
Stacey – our travel correspondent on all things China
“Writing for the Sosauce blog has helped me organize and sort out my feelings on living for a year in China. I constantly tell these stories to friends and family, though they usually come out in a wave of strongly mixed emotions. The Sosauce blog has given me a structure to work out one topic per week, integrating my personal stories with a broader message to share. I’m not very diligent in keeping a travel journal, so I appreciate immensely having these entries as an archive of my experience.”

Mari – our photographer extraordinaire
“The thing that I love about Sosauce is the challenge & inspiration behind it. The challenge of blogging about something fresh, new, and appealing each week and the inspiration that I found in the process of it. Beyond the personal process, I found inspiration in other Sosauce guest bloggers. It is intriguing to see how others view the world. It also makes me want to see everything ever written about! I want to be part of the sauce that makes this world saucy!”

Larissa – our European gypsy
“I feel really lucky to have been a part of the growing Sosauce blog from day one and also appreciate having my photos, trips and journals highlighted often in the Sosauce community. Writing a weekly blog post for Sosauce has been really fun and actually turned out to be a great way for me to take the time to reflect on my adventures. I often forget to do that and always get mad at myself later for not writing more of it down! I don’t think of myself as an incredibly gifted writer and it has meant a lot to me that Sosauce gave me the chance to put my crazy stories out there and have also helped promote them. The past few months have been a whirlwind with all the different cities, countries and people going in and out of my life, yet Sosauce always stayed as a sort of invisible support system cheering me on in my travels and making me feel like there was always someone ‘there’ no matter where I was.”

Alex – our Collegiate Backpacker
“After spending three months in India this summer, I came back with tons of photos and stories to share (not to mention a new-found appreciation for sidewalks, clean tap-water and sandwiches). Joining the Sosauce team as a contributing writer has been an awesome experience giving me an avenue through which I can relay my crazy experiences abroad with fellow travel geeks. What makes Sosauce users and readers of the blog stand out from those on other travel sites is that they are true travel geeks, which means the stories I share here go directly to fellow travelers eager for similar adventures. The Sosauce blog has allowed me to share adventures ranging from East Coast scavenger hunts to camel riding in India; from my experience with social entrepreneurship in India to Christmas markets in Europe. And, I can’t wait to write, read, and interact with my fellow travel geeks even more in 2010!”

Paul & Melanie – our Wayward Winos friends
“The drive up from Ocean City, Maryland on a random day to go to a random barbecue in a random park in Brooklyn, New York in order meet a bunch of random travelers didn’t seem random to us, the Wayward Winos, since, well, we are travelers after all and travelers take trips on whims. The voyage via car then train to associate ourselves with this like minded people turned out to be a well worth it endeavor that has blossomed into friendship and community, the kind that can only be found between people who understand the traveling soul and lovers of Meatloaf (the singer, not mom’s meat concoction). Being a part of Sosauce, both as contributors and readers has expanded our minds and let us see the world through the eyes of other wonderful explorers.”

Thanks to all our Sosauce blog contributors for being wonderful additions to the Travel Geeks community. We couldn’t have had a great year without you!
