The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual two-week event that celebrates springtime in Washington, D.C. as well as the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan. Nowadays, the blooming of the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. has come to symbolize the natural beauty of our nation’s capital city, according to Bloom Watch.
