Sosauce – short for “Social Sauce” – highlights the saucy side of travel and the social aspect that gives it value. We’re an authentic community for travel geeks- the curious traveler who will get up early to see the sunrise over Mt. Fuji, or go out of their way to try the local tribal delicacy.

On Sosauce, you’ll find the tools to make your travel experiences come to life. Show off your photos in high resolution, keep a journal, pin your favorite destinations, and write reviews. Order prints for posterity’s sake, embed a slideshow in your blog, or post a trip to your favorite social media sites. Our goal is to enable you to record and share your travel experiences in the best way possible.

You’ll find that the people are friendly, the experiences are rich, and the applications are powerful. We welcome you to join us.

About the Sosauce Blog

Sosauce’s Travel Geek blog focuses on the interests of independent travelers who “geek out” about travel.

For us, traveling is about the human connection and making an impact, whether local or abroad. We highlight the stories of people and observe the world through their eyes. We round up both industry and community interest articles, and encourage traveling with a purpose.

All of our writers are active members on Sosauce, so go ahead, sign-up, and say hi.

    The Travel Newbie

Travel to me means exploring language, food, hidden gems, and culture. I’m new to the travel scene and looking forward to my next big inspirational trip abroad, hopefully sooner than later. My goal is to taste the breeze of every great city. But, in the mean time I’m adjusting to the thought of being an adult.

Working on Using up Those Nine Lives

If it’s a venture into the unknown, I’m all for it. From the aerospace engineering world to helping start Sosauce, new ideas are what keep me movin’. Always seeking a thrill, a trip needs a healthy dose of danger and much room for spontaneity. Yet, my favorite trips of all are those that open my eyes, take me out of my comfort zone, and show me life as it is meant to be lived. For even more than the adventure, travel has always been my connection to humanity, an ever-present reminder that the world doesn’t revolve around me.

    Memory Collector

I enjoy the journey as well as my destinations, but I can’t stand spending a good chunk of the day sitting in a vehicle. Trips with ample time to explore and the chance to see art, history, or nature’s beauty are the ones that really excite. Memories I treasure: Sunrise on a lagoon in the Amazon, wildebeests dashing across the Mara River, Tai He Dian emerging through the vermillion gates, silent ferocity of the terra cotta army, genius of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, and huddled in a Fukuoka yatai eating tonkotsu ramen on a rainy night.

Digging a hole through the center of the Earth

After falling in love with the Chinese language several years ago, I’m now about to depart for my fifth trip to China. I’ve never been to, say, the Carribean or Europe or the Northwest USA, but they’re on my list. It’s a long one. In addition to my life in modern dance, teaching children, and Chinese study, I do editorial editing for Sosauce, seeking out passionate, articulate, and well-traveled writers to contribute to the Sosauce Guide. I also love to engage newfound friends in playing games of all sorts.

    Born Traveler

Travel has always meant something special. I was raised on it. Appreciating it was implicit. Loving it was a given. For me the best moments abroad are the quietest ones, the tiny reflections on a beautiful, mystifying, magnificent world, populated by a beautiful, mystifying, magnificent human race. At Sosauce we have the opportunity every day to enable travelers to share these moments, and to learn from them ourselves. That’s something pretty special, if you ask me.

    100% Mexican

In Spanish “Social-Sauce” can be translated as “Salsa-Social” which I do a lot of (Salsa Dancing & Socializing). I enjoy adding salsa on my “Place’s I’ve been” and “Reviews”. Sometimes I spend hours understanding the languages of smart phones and other times I brainstorm ways to share my passion for travel. I’m a dreamer and dreaming sometimes feels like traveling without the process of uploading photos once you are done. Right now, my dream is to find a way to avoid doing laundry for the rest of my life.

Looking through a Music Infused Lens

If you were to say you were leaving on a jet plane, I’d likely start singing the Mamas and Papas for you. I largely travel for music, whether it’s down the street in Brooklyn or across the country for Coachella. But, regardless of distance I’ve always got my camera in tow! Ultimately, I’d like to find a way of combining music and photography with social justice activism.

    Genetically Modified Nomadic Shutterbug

I suffer from severe wanderlust and have a serious addiction to travel. I blame it on genetics. My mother is from Finland and my father is from Indonesia and both left their native countries at a young age to find their place in this world. It’s in my blood to be nomadic, curious, and always packing and unpacking my bags. My greatest pleasure? Documenting the journey. Again, I blame it on genetics. Tucked in my dad’s closet for most of my life was a medium format Rolleiflex in pristine condition. Thanks dad, I’ll take that. While I shoot both digital and film, I’m constantly framing the landscape wherever my feet land.

Ardent Lover of All God’s Creation

I find satisfaction in solitary moments spent absorbing the peacefulness of nature. I fantasize about one day living in the mountains or on a remote lake, philosophizing on life’s beautiful simplicities in the vein of Henry David Thoreau. Also enjoying a good adventure from time to time and the thrill of discovering a new point of view, I continually search out opportunities to travel the world and witness an experience foreign from my own – an authentic connection that speaks from the soul. My perfectionist passion and preferred method of self-expression is the written word, most often in the form of poetry.

    World Traveler & Cosmoglot

My definition of a cosmoglot is one who knows several “cosmopolitan” cities well. I’ve been lucky to call Los Angeles, New York and London home at some point or another in the last couple of years. Stockholm is next on my list. While I love living in the city, my passion is traveling the world–on the path, off the path or anywhere in between. The biggest reward of travel for me is not just adding more pins to a world map, but rather all the friends I get to make along the way.”

    Travel Bug Bitten

From atop a camel in India, to the bathroom of an overnight train in Russia; from swimming with baby penguins in the Galapagos, to a roach-infested bed in Vegas, travel has opened my eyes to amazing places and given me experiences I could never have imagined. Though a proud Californian, I’m currently spending time on the East Coast studying Public Policy and social entrepreneurship — and always thinking about my next adventure.
